Good advice starts with knowing who you are dealing with.
AK Tax & Accountancy was built around direct relationships. Clients know who is advising them, and the adviser knows the business behind the figures.
Here are some of our team members that you could be working with.

Andy Hyland
FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR
Andy founded AK Tax & Accountancy because he believed owner-managed businesses deserved a more useful relationship with their accountant: one based on continuity, straight answers and advice that helps with the next decision, not only the last set of accounts.

He works with established businesses and their owners on accounting, tax planning, remuneration, restructuring, growth and longer-term succession. His approach is practical. Understand the objective first, explain the options clearly and make sure the advice can actually be used.
How Andy works
Andy remains closely involved in client relationships. That involvement gives him the context to notice patterns, challenge assumptions and connect today's decision with the longer-term plan.

Clients can speak to someone who already knows the background. That usually means a quicker answer, a more relevant conversation and less time repeating information that should already be understood.
Professional standards
As a member of the Institute of Financial Accountants, Andy is committed to maintaining high professional standards and ongoing development.
Clients can expect advice that is technically robust, commercially practical and explained in plain English.
Outside the office
Andy lives in Rochester, is married with two children and a dog, and enjoys reading, theatre trips and tabletop gaming.

He’s a firm believer that rugby is best enjoyed from the sofa, but does recognise the importance of getting himself to the gym on a regular basis.

Tina Rogers
SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Tina has worked in accountancy since 1990 and qualified with the ACCA in 2001. Over the years, she’s worked with sole traders, high-net-worth individuals, small companies and multi-million-pound organisations, in both specialist and mainstream sectors. That breadth of experience means she’s familiar with many of the situations and challenges her clients face.

Her work covers accounts, personal and business tax, and the accounting software that helps clients keep everything running smoothly. Having supported businesses of different sizes and at different stages, she understands how their needs can change as they grow and brings practical experience to the advice she gives.

Tina joined AK Tax & Accountancy in 2020 and has since been helping clients stay on top of their finances and keep up with changes affecting their businesses.

Outside work, Tina plays netball and enjoys cooking.

Michael Kolawole
SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Michael began his accountancy career in 2016 and has worked his way from junior to senior accountant at AK Tax. He’s gained hands-on experience along the way, carrying out the detailed work himself before taking on responsibility for reviewing it.

He takes care to get the details right and helps clients meet their accounting and tax obligations accurately. For Michael, that’s also an opportunity to look beyond the immediate requirements, spot potential issues early and make sure clients have the information they need to act before something becomes a problem.

Outside work, Michael holds a black belt in karate and plays football semi-professionally.
He also loves to travel and has set himself a goal of visiting more than 60 countries, with 29 visited so far.
